Gradimir Bosnjak, 62, a personal assistant to the mayor, was in Hackensack to pick up a colleague, the newspaper said.

Police said Bosnjak was sitting in the parked car when a woman approached asking for bus fare. A man then jumped into the front seat and punched Bosnjak in the face. Police said Bosnjak fought back but was forced out of the car before the couple drove off.

The car was found a few hours later, dumped about seven miles away. The suspects remained at large Wednesday night, the newspaper said.
