Jeep belonging to slain family discovered

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Oct. 16 (UPI) -- The Jeep Cherokee belonging to a Florida family found shot to death on the Florida Turnpike turned up Monday in an industrial area in West Palm Beach.

Workers at Resal Inc., a freight shipper, recognized the car from news reports about the killings of Jose Luis Escobedo Jr., his wife, Yessica, and their two young sons, the Palm Beach Post reported. The car was missing its radio and seat cushions.

The bodies of the West Palm Beach family were found Friday on the shoulder of the turnpike in Port St. Lucie, about an hour away from their home.

Investigators said Escobedos were apparently shot while kneeling on the shoulder with Yessica holding her 3- and 4-year-old sons in her arms, CNN said.

The Jeep was being towed to St. Lucie County for forensic examination by sheriff's investigators.
