Prodigy, 21, about to become doctor

MIDDLESBROUGH, England, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- The first man retried under Britain's new double jeopardy law has been sentenced in the Cleveland area to life in prison.
William Dunlop earlier had been declared innocent in the 1989 slaying of Julie Hogg of Cleveland after juries twice failed to reach a verdict in trials, the 5th Crown Prosecution Service said.
But, under the law that went into effect in 2005, Hogg could be retried in certain cases if referred to the Court of Appeal.
During his retrial, previous convictions for violence, bodily harm and threats to kill brought up. Prosecutor Martin Goldman called him "a dangerous killer," the 5th Crown Prosecution Service reported.
