Ontario police target Hells Angels

TORONTO, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Police in Ontario raided biker gang clubhouses across the Canadian province Thursday, arresting dozens of Hells Angels and Vagabond members.

Most of those detained were held on drug charges, but other charges included weapons offenses, counseling to commit murder and organized crime offenses, the Toronto Star reported. Police said that drugs, weapons and cars were seized.

A health club in Toronto was also raided.

The newspaper said that the Hells Angels absorbed most other biker gangs in Ontario in 2000 in a huge "patch over" ceremony. The Vagabonds, who operate out of a single clubhouse, stayed out of the merger.

There are 190 members of the Hells Angels in 16 clubs in Ontario, and the Toronto area is said to have the highest concentration of members of the gang anywhere.
