WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee has called for the release of a second report on the Iraq war that she says "paints a grim picture."
Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif., said sources had told her a draft of a National Intelligence Estimate on security in Iraq and the potential for civil war there had been finished, CNN reported.
She accused the White House of "slow rolling" the document -- deliberately withholding what could be bleak conclusions -- until after the November elections, CNN said.
White House spokesman Tony Snow said Harman's assertion was "flat wrong."
"There is not a waiting Iraq document that reflects the National Intelligence Estimate that's sitting around gathering dust waiting until after the election," Snow said.
A White House homeland security adviser said the report would be ready for release in January.
