Prodigy, 21, about to become doctor

BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Former Argentine President Carlos Menem collapsed at a political rally and has been hospitalized.
Menem, 76, was reportedly talking with supporters regarding a potential presidential bid in 2007 when he fell ill, La Nacion reported Wednesday. His illness remains unknown, though he was reportedly suffering from chest pains.
The ex-president, who served from 1989-99, was taken to a hospital in Cordoba in northwest Argentina.
Menem was credited with helping Argentina emerge from the dark days of is former military dictatorship. However, he was later marked for his alleged role in a number of corruption scandals that dogged his administration.
