Both candidates confident as Swedes vote

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Polls indicated opposition Alliance leader Fredrik Reinfeldt led Prime Minister Goran Persson's Social Democrats in Sweden's election Sunday.

Both candidates expressed optimism about their respective campaigns, The Local reported.

Responding to criticism for campaigning on the traditionally campaingn-free election day, Reinfeldt said Swedes could be assured that voters would not be bothered as they went to polling stations.
