Dentist admits killing wife, girlfriend

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- A Georgia dentist pleaded guilty Friday to killing his wife in 2004 and a girlfriend 16 years ago.

Barton Corbin of Dacula had previously maintained that both Jennifer Corbin and Dorothy Hearn killed themselves -- and that he was just unlucky in the women he loved, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Under a plea agreement, Corbin is to serve two concurrent life sentences with credit for time served. Under Georgia's parole guidelines, he could be eligible for parole in 14 years.

"I don't think Barton Corbin will ever see the free world again," Gwinnett County Prosecutor Danny Porter said.

Jury selection had already begun for Corbin's trial for his wife's death. He reportedly decided to change his plea when he learned that investigators had successfully linked him to the gun found near his wife's body.

"God may forgive you, I never will," said Max Barber, his father-in-law. "I just virtually hope you burn in hell."

The Corbins had two sons who are now in the custody of Jennifer Corbin's sister and her husband. The older son, now 9, found his mother's body.
