Democrats given chance to regain House

WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- While Democrats seem poised to gain some U.S. Senate seats in the November elections, a report says regaining control of the Congress will be a long shot.

Democrats seem more likely to carry the House, USA Today says on the Labor Day weekend that launches the final nine weeks of campaigning.

Stuart Rothenberg of the non-partisan Rothenberg Political Report predicts Democrats will pick up the 15 seats they need to regain control of the House.

Democrats need to gain six Senate seats to take over Congress' upper chamber but that's a tall order, political observers say.
