LUANDA, Angola, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Venezuela and Angola have signed a comprehensive bilateral oil agreement, El Universal reported Friday.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez met with his Angolan counterpart, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, in the Angolan capital of Luanda, where Chavez agreed to provide Angola Venezuela's assistance in developing its own oil assets.

Venezuela is the world's forth-largest oil exporter, while Angola is the second-largest petroleum exporter in Africa.

Prior to his visit to Angola, Chavez visited with leaders in China and Syria, where he made similar agreements.
