Report: Hostage families disappointed

JERUSALEM, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, on his Israel trip, reportedly had nothing new to tell the families of Israeli soldiers being held by Hezbollah and Hamas.

The families met Annan in Jerusalem, reports Arutz Sheva.

However, the wife of one of the captives said, "We received a personal pledge ... that he accepts the mission to get the three kidnapped soldiers home and that's a really big thing."

She said Annan has spoken to Lebanese Cabinet ministers from Hezbollah and asked them to help.

Danny Gillerman, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, was quoted as saying: "In the coming days, (Annan) is about to visit countries with both an interest and great influence in terms of this issue. I certainly hope that this meeting will raise his moral commitment."
