Prosecutors: Suspects admit Moscow bomb

MOSCOW, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- The three men charged with setting a bomb in a Moscow market that killed 10 people have admitted to committing the crime, Russian prosecutors said Tuesday.

Ilya Tikhomirov and Oleg Kostyrev, who allegedly planted the bomb Monday, were charged with the premeditated murder of two or more people on grounds of ethnic and racial hatred, RIA Novosti reported. The third man, Valery Zhukovtsov, was allegedly supposed to help them get away.

All three were arrested Monday.

Prosecutor Yury Syomin said that the suspects targeted the market because there were "too many people of Asian backgrounds, whom they intensely disliked." But he said none of the men appear to be affiliated with any organized racist or nationalist groups.

Two of the seven people identified as of Tuesday were Russians, three Tajik citizens and two citizens of Uzbekistan.
