LONDON, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- At least 12 of the 23 suspects in an alleged plot to blow up trans-Atlantic airliners will be charged as terrorists in London, police said.
Scotland Yard is "very buoyant" about the progress of the inquiry, one of the largest counter-terrorism investigations undertaken in Britain, The Sunday Times of London reports.
Officials say police uncovered bomb-making equipment, chemicals, a large sum of cash, at least one gun and "significant" documentation in searches of 14 locations the past 10 days.
They are also studying what are said to be "martyrdom videos" recovered from up to six laptop computers, the newspaper said. A series of e-mails, some from Internet cafes, are also said to be linked to some suspects.
Fingerprint and DNA evidence was still being analyzed.
Officials say more than half the detained suspects will be charged with terrorism offenses within the next 10 days.
