Kozlowski's wife files for divorce

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Karen Kozlowski has filed for divorce in Florida from her husband, Dennis Kozlowski, the imprisoned former head of Tyco International Ltd.

The filing could impede the federal government's effort to seize Dennis Kozlowski's assets, the New York Daily News reported.

Karen Kozlowski wants half of her husband's assets, including a mansion in Boca Raton, Fla., paid for partly by a favorable loan from Tyco. Her lawyer asked a judge in West Palm Beach to place a lien on the house.

Jurors at her husband's trial heard testimony about a birthday party he threw for his wife in Sardinia. Tyco paid half the cost for festivities that included an ice sculpture in the shape of Michelangelo's David that provided vodka, and a special performance by singer Jimmy Buffett.

That was then and this is now, the newspaper said.

"It's the old saying about a sinking ship," Manhattan divorce lawyer Raoul Felder told the newspaper. "Rats and wives, they both want out."

Dennis Kozlowski was sentenced to eight to 25 years after being convicted of looting Tyco.
