Rockets burn 750,000 trees

HAIFA, Israel, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- The rocket attacks in the Middle East fighting have scorched vast forest areas in Israel with 750,000 trees burned that will take 60 years to regenerate.

Ynetnews says the Jewish National Fund has estimated the damage so far to the forests in northern Israel at more than $ 8 million.

The JNF says in 29 days of fighting, some 750,000 trees have burned, including oak, pine, pistachio and others.

Since the fighting began, the agency said its fire fighting crews were called to put out more than 600 fires in the north.
