Hadley says cease-fire will be carried out

CRAWFORD, Texas, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- U.S. National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said Sunday he thinks the Middle East will accept a United Nations cease-fire.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Hadley said he believes the cease-fire will go through, even though the Israeli ambassador said such action would not mean an end to the fighting.

Hadley spoke from Crawford, Texas, where he is with President George W. Bush.

"I think we will get a cease-fire," Hadley said. "Everybody really agrees on what the elements of getting this to a resolution is -- that is to say, getting conditions in which the violence really can end and we can get a sustainable cease-fire."

Hadley said his biggest concern regarding the situation is whether the militant group Hezbollah will abide by a U.N. resolution. He said shipments of weapons have been arriving in Lebanon from Syria and Iran to aid Hezbollah.
