Fidel Castro reportedly recovering

Aug. 4, 2006 at 10:50 PM

HAVANA, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Cuban President Fidel Castro is reportedly recovering from his recent surgery, Cuban news sources said Friday.

During a visit to Guatemala, Cuban Health Minister Jose Ramon Balaguer made assurances that Castro would recover soon.

There has been little news out of Havana about Castro's health since his operation Monday, and no public statement by his brother Raul Castro, who temporarily replaced Fidel Castro in charge of the communist island.
