Ahmadinejad urges isolation of Israel

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urged members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference to isolate Israel.

Ahmadinejad told the emergency meeting of the biggest Islamic body Israel needs to be isolated for its actions in Lebanon and against Palestinians, reports Al-Bawaba.

He was quoted as saying all regional states including Islamic countries "to discontinue their overt and covert ties with the fake Zionist regime immediately and isolate U.S., Britain and other governments that supported Israel."

Earlier, Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who leads the OIC, said the group wants a role in peace building in Lebanon after a cease-fire and that its 57 members should be ready to provide troops for peacekeeping operations.
