MADRID, July 12 (UPI) -- Pilots for Spanish airline Iberia ended a strike Wednesday after talks with company officials mediated by the Spanish government, El Pais reported.

Iberia officials had threatened legal action against the pilots, saying the work stoppage is costing more than $6 million a day.

Pilots decided to strike after Iberia announced plans to launch a budget airline, which pilots said would cost them their jobs in the future.
