SEOUL, July 7 (UPI) -- Despite tensions triggered by North Korea's missile launches, South Korea announced it will meet the North next week for a new round of high-level talks.
"The government believes it must continue to talk (with the North) even to resolve the current security situation sparked by North Korea's missile launches," Unification Ministry official Lee Kwan-sel, said in a Yonhap report.
Some officials had urged the meetings be postponed in light of the missile launches but that was overruled, Yonhap reported.
South Korea Unification Minister Lee Jong-seok said calling off any talks may adversely negotiations with North Korea on other issues, Yonhap said.
