Wall collapse kills seven children

BEIJING, June 26 (UPI) -- A stadium wall collapsed during a tae kwan do class in western China, killing seven children.

China Daily reported that the collapse in Shaanxi Province occurred during bad weather, with high winds, rain and lightning. The immediate cause may have been an electrical pole falling.

About 20 students, all of them around 10 years old, were going through their exercises when an indoor wall caved inward. About 10 children were hurt.

A woman who had escorted her son to the class was also buried under the wall, the newspaper said. She was able to escape and then pulled five children from the wreckage.
