BERGEN, Norway, June 21 (UPI) -- A Norwegian professor has found a previously unknown German documentary of the invasion of Norway by Germany during World War II.

Associate Professor Jostein Saakvitne at Bergen University College stumbled across the film "Kampf um Norwegen" -- or "Struggle for Norway" -- at a German Internet auction, Aftenposten reported.

"The film contains both known footage, but longer than we have previously seen, and a range of new scenes that have probably never been made public before," Saakvitne said.

The 80-minute documentary of the invasion of Norway in 1940 was commissioned by the German Armed Forces High Command. Saakvitne said the costly propaganda film was likely aimed at German movie audiences, Aftenposten reported.
