China and Egypt strenthen ties

CAIRO, June 18 (UPI) -- China and Egypt have signed an agreement to strengthen ties between the two nations, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef signed the document in Cairo Saturday.

The agreement calls for Beijing and Cairo to work toward peace in the Middle East, using their own economic advantages and maintaining high-level exchanges and visits.

Egypt and China also agreed not to have any official ties with Taiwan or supporters of Taiwanese independence.
