BEAVER CREEK, Colo., June 17 (UPI) -- A man was detained and later released by Secret Service agents in Beaver Creek, Colo., after he approached U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Denver Post reported that the man's "behavior and demeanor" were cause for concern, according to Eric Zahren, spokesman for the Secret Service.

When Secret Service agents pulled the man aside, he became "uncooperative and combative," Zahren said.

The Post said the incident occurred at an outdoor shopping area at about 2:45 p.m. Friday.

No charges have been filed against the man.

Cheney was visiting the Vail area resort with his wife to attend the American Enterprise Institute World Forum Conference, said Lea Anne McBride, a spokeswoman for Cheney.
