Mladic arrest reopens Serbia-EU talks

BELGRADE, Serbia, May 30 (UPI) -- The European Union again told Serbia that association talks can continue only after former Gen. Ratko Mladic is arrested.

EU officials broke off talks with Serbia when Serb leader failed to come through on a promise to deliver Mladic to a war crimes tribunal in The Hague. That deadline was April 30 and the next week, EU negotiations were cut off.

Olli Rehn, EU enlargement commissioner, on Tuesday said Mladic's arrest remains a condition for continuation for talks. Mladic, who once led Bosnian Serb's military, is wanted regarding genocide and crimes against humanity charges stemming from attacks on Muslims in 1991-95.
