ROCKVILLE, Md., May 24 (UPI) -- Convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad Wednesday cross-examined Lee Boyd Malvo, his accomplice in a Washington-area killing spree.
Muhammad and Malvo have been convicted in Virginia in the rampage that left 10 dead and three injured in October 2002. Muhammad -- who is acting as his own attorney in his Montgomery County, Md., trial -- noted Wednesday Malvo pleaded guilty by reason of insanity in a sniper shooting in Virginia, The Washington Post reported.
Malvo, 21, said he had been advised to enter the plea because Muhammad had "indoctrinated" him.
He testified Tuesday Muhammad had pulled the trigger in nine of the 10 fatal shootings. He also testified Muhammad planned to kill dozens of people, and then blow up schools, school buses and children's hospitals during the second phase of a campaign to terrorize the Washington area.
Malvo is the final scheduled prosecution witness in Muhammad's trial. He has agreed to plead guilty to five counts of first-degree murder in Maryland, the Post reported.
