SOCHI, Russia, May 22 (UPI) -- Searchers have found the black box or cockpit voice recorder from an Armenian jet that crashed in the Black Sea near the Russian resort of Sochi.

Igor Levitin, the Russian transport minister, said the box was buried under a foot or so of silt 1,600 feet below the surface of the water, the Novosti news agency reported. The other box, containing flight data, is believed to be a few feet away, and the search for it continued Monday.

The Armavia Airbus A-320 went down in bad weather on May 3 a few miles short of the airport in Sochi, killing 113 passengers and crew. The plane had taken off from Yerevan, the Armenian capital.
