Prince Charles shows tougher side

LONDON, May 15 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince Charles says he doesn't care if people don't like his controversial views on social issues.

In an interview -- filmed as part of a documentary celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Prince's Trust -- the prince agreed that some people probably thought he was being a nuisance. But he added that it would be "criminally negligent" to ignore the needs of the people of Britain, and said that charitable work was his "duty," the Western Mail reported.

The newspaper said the interview appears to represent a new phase for Prince Charles, one in which he will be more outspoken and less concerned with public opinion.
