Poll: Almost half in U.S. creationist
MADISON, Wis., May 13 (UPI) -- Tommy Thompson, former Wisconsin governor and Bush Cabinet member, said he wants to run for governor, but might also like to run for U.S. Senate.
He cited as considerations his ongoing private-sector work, which includes a number of business and corporate ventures, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.
"I've got a lot of commitments right now. I've got four businesses that I'm involved in that are more than likely to go public this year," Thompson said.
Thompson has also expressed to associates presidential ambitions, along with regrets that he passed up opportunities when he was governor to launch a White House bid.
Although Thompson has talked about announcing any political plans at the Republican state convention May 19 or 20, he said he still had not made arrangements to speak there.
"I know I can win. I know without a doubt," Thompson said about the governor's race. "If I run, I win. I have no doubt in my mind about that."
