Judge: Accused hacker should be extradited

LONDON, May 10 (UPI) -- A London judge ruled accused military hacker Gary McKinnon should be extradited to the United States, a decision McKinnon says he will appeal.

Attorney Karen Todner told the BBC she was "very disappointed" in Tuesday's ruling.

"We're proposing to appeal this to (Britain's) secretary of state, and if we're still refused we will then appeal to the High Court for a decision to allow Gary to be tried here as a British citizen," Todner said.

McKinnon was arrested in 2002 for allegedly hacking into computer networks used by the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy and Department of Defense and causing $700,000 in damage.

As he has done previously, McKinnon Tuesday denied he was security threat during two years of exploring U.S. military computer networks.

"My intention was never to disrupt security," he told the BBC. "The fact that I logged on with no password showed there was no security to begin with."
