Man breaks prosthetic leg on Mount Everest

KATHMANDU, Nepal, May 3 (UPI) -- A New Zealander attempting to be the first double-amputee to climb Nepal's Mount Everest has broken one of his prosthetic legs but vows to continue.

Mark Inglis was nearly 21,000 feet up when he slipped and cracked his carbon fiber leg, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reports.

Instead of quitting Inglis wrapped it up in duct tape and is waiting for a replacement leg to be brought to him.

Both of Inglis' legs were amputated below the knee after an accident on New Zealand's Mount Cook in 1982.
