The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Ellis is being held in Tarrant County Jail without bail.

A friend of Ellis found the dog in a closet, allegedly put in there by Ellis.

The friend took the dog to a nearby animal shelter but it died from burns suffered from the hot water inside the washing machine.

Ellis is facing other burglary and theft charges in unrelated cases and has been charged with drug dealing as well.
