MARTON, England, April 21 (UPI) -- Two drug-crazed teenagers who repeatedly raped an elderly woman in her Middlesbrough, England, home have been jailed for life.
David Humphrey and Lee Beazley attacked the 65-year-old widow during a burglary, Sky News reported. The two friends told police they had drunk a great deal of alcohol, smoked cannabis and taken heroin substitute tablets before the attacking their victim on Sept. 29, 2005.
Both also pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and threatening the woman with a knife.
Judge Peter Fox sentenced the pair to life imprisonment.
"Your offending against this lady in her own home ranks amongst the worst cases ever committed on Teesside," Fox said.
The grandmother had been watching television when she was threatened, repeatedly beaten and raped before her home was ransacked.
"They will have a long time to think on what they did," said the woman, "and to them their sentences may well seem longer because of their youth."
