Poland marks Warsaw Jews ghetto uprising

WARSAW, Poland, April 19 (UPI) -- Poland is commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the Jewish Ghetto uprising as a heroic action against the Nazi German occupation troops during World War II.

Polish President Lech Kaczynski said that the act of Jewish resistance against the Nazis had been doomed from the onset. However, it had been a heroic action of people who fought to show their determination to live, he said.
