KABUL, Afghanistan, April 19 (UPI) -- NATO officials say an explosion rocked their headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan, Wednesday along with other embassies.

U.S. military spokesman Col. Tom Collins said rocket fire is the presumed cause but nothing has been confirmed yet.

He told CNN the only casualty was an Afghan security officer, who sustained minor injuries.

The U.S. embassy wasn't hit and no personnel were injured, said spokesman Lou Fintor.

NATO spokesman Lt. Col. Riccardo Cristoni said the blast happened about 11 p.m., CNN reports.

Collins blamed the attack on Taliban forces -- ousted from control of Afghanistan during the 2001 U.S.-led invasion -- who said in March they would step up attacks on troops there.

"I wouldn't call what happened tonight effective by any means," said Collins. "I think it's the enemy conducting a harassing fire. Generally speaking Kabul is pretty safe."
