Indian imams ask for calm after explosions

NEW DELHI, April 15 (UPI) -- Religious leaders pleaded for calm Saturday in New Delhi after two explosions rocked the Jama Masjid mosque.

The relatively low-grade blasts wounded 13 Muslim worshipers, most of whom are expected to survive, CNN reported.

The imam of the mosque said two earlier reports that two people had died were in error.

The two explosions went off 10 minutes apart Friday evening in the mosque complex. The complex did not sustain significant damage police said.

The 17th-century Jama Masjid is one of India's largest and best known mosques, CNN said.
