High-rise scaffolding collapses

MILTON KEYNES, England, April 11 (UPI) -- At least three construction workers were seriously hurt Tuesday when scaffolding collapsed at a hotel under construction in southeast England.

Another 200 workers escaped unscathed, The Telegraph reported. Fifteen floors of scaffolding came down in an accident apparently caused by high winds.

"We don't think there is anybody outstanding," said Chief Inspector Andy Standen of Thames Valley Police. "The building contractors themselves have done a roll call."

The collapse occurred at a Jurys Inn hotel being built in Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes is a "new town," designed to be a technology center, about 45 miles northwest of London.
