The engineer, who was working on a road reconstruction project, was driving with three bodyguards in Nimroz province Sunday, when suspected Taliban stopped his car and killed him, The News International of Pakistan reported.

Ghulam Dastageer Azad, governor of Nimroz, said, "They pulled him out, shot him and burned his body."

The attackers released the three guards after taking their weapons, Azad said.

Insurgent assaults have increased recently, especially in southern Afghanistan.
