AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, March 23 (UPI) -- Dutch government officials have called for an inquiry into alleged rapes, drunkenness and drug use aboard naval vessels.

One of two female sailors who said she was raped aboard the frigate HMS Tjerk Hiddes said she also was the victim of a group sexual assault.

The Netherlands national news agency ANP and Expatica reported Junior Defense Minister Cees van der Knaap appointed a commission to investigate the allegations. Lawmakers called on the commission to expand its inquiry to include alcohol and drug use in the military in general.
