Israel suicide bombing foiled, say police

JERUSALEM, March 21 (UPI) -- Israeli police in Jerusalem say they foiled a suicide bombing attempt after intercepting a van carrying 10 Palestinians at the end of a chase.

Police said the van was stopped on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway and the Palestinians were allegedly carrying explosives meant for a bombing in the center of the country, reports the Jerusalem Post.

The chase began shortly after the van left Jerusalem hours after a red alert went into effect in the city, the report said.

The 10 men placed under arrest at the side of the road and the explosives were disarmed, it said.
