Clashes reported in Gaza

GAZA, March 20 (UPI) -- Palestinian Authority security officials and the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade reportedly clashed Monday in the Gaza Strip.

The clashes erupted when al-Aqsa members tried to blockade roads to be taken by PA President Mahmoud Abbas' convoy, reports Ynetnews.com.

Abbas was meeting in Gaza with Hamas' Prime Minister-designate Ismail Haniyeh on the formation of the Cabinet. Abbas was expected to approve the roster despite his opposition to Hamas' basic principles, the report said.

Palestinian sources were quoted by Ynetnews as saying gunmen from the Fatah and Abbas' convoy were injured in the violence but no details were available. Abbas was not in the convoy.

In another incident, a group of 25 gunmen reportedly took over a power station in Gaza for about an hour before security officials regained control, Ynetnews said.
