HAIFA, Israel, March 15 (UPI) -- Paintings by Adolf Hitler have been included in a recently opened exhibit at an Israel art institute -- provoking a range of critical reaction.
Yona Yahav, mayor of Haifa where the Pyramida Center for Contemporary Art is located, called the Hitler paintings an insult to Jewish people.
But, the Jerusalem Post reports, not only are both of the artists who reproduced Hitler's work Jewish, one is himself a survivor of the Holocaust whose parents were murdered by the Nazis.
Dov Or-Ner said he had "the moral right to approach this subject as I see fit."
Hitler's art are reproductions taken from the Internet and put on canvas.
Hitler was a failed artist in his youth, before becoming a war criminal.
Yaacov Chefetz, curator of the exhibit, said the art on display, especially Hitler's work, fit the title: "An Issue of Disagreement."
