BANGKOK, March 9 (UPI) -- A small bomb exploded in Bangkok Thursday outside the home of former Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda, a top adviser to the king, injuring two foreigners.
The bomb exploded near the fence surrounding Prem's official residence at around 2 p.m., police said. Prem is a former army chief and a member of the Privy Council of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Two foreigners, one British and one Canadian, were injured in the blast, The Australian reported.
The bomb appeared to be homemade and was apparently triggered by remote control, police said.
Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra blamed the blast on unknown forces trying to ignite an already tense political situation in the country. Thaksin has been under popular pressure to resign over allegations of corruption and misuse of power.
"There may be someone wanting to incite the situation. I don't have a complete report yet," Thaksin said, speaking in the eastern province of Chanthaburi.
