Prodigy, 21, about to become doctor

TEL AVIV, Israel, March 9 (UPI) -- Israel reopened the Karni crossing Thursday to allow food and medical supplies into the Gaza Strip.
One hundred trucks crossed the border Thursday and the same number are expected Friday, Ha'aretz reported. But the traffic is one-way, with no flowers or produce from Gaza making it to outside markets.
Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni told Quartet Committee envoy James Wolfensohn on Thursday that the closing was because of security warnings that a major attack was expected through Karni and not to punish Palestinians or their government.
The Quarter Committee consists of the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia.
Karni has been closed for two weeks.
