Prodigy, 21, about to become doctor
JERUSALEM, March 7 (UPI) -- Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said Palestinian Prime Minister-designate Ismail Haniyeh would be a fair target if Hamas renews terror attacks on Israel.
"If Hamas as a terror organization faces us with this challenge of the state of Israel confronting a terrorist organization, no one there is immune, not just Ismail Haniyeh -- no one there is immune," Mofaz told Army Radio.
The Israel Defense Forces expects the Islamic Jihad to retaliate for an Israel Air Force strike in Gaza on Monday, in which five people were killed, including two senior militants, an 8-year-old and two other civilians, Ha'aretz reported. Eight other passers-by were wounded, and a woman who lives nearby died of a heart attack apparently brought on by the strike.
Last Wednesday, another senior militant was killed when his car exploded, and Islamic Jihad accused Israel of assassinating him. Israel, however, denied it had aircraft in the area.
An Israeli security source told the newspaper: "Islamic Jihad is sure to react to the assassinations."
