LONDON, March 4 (UPI) -- Anti-war activists in Britain are angry about Prime Minister Tony Blair's remark that God would judge his decision to join the invasion of Iraq.
In an interview with ITV1, Blair talked of the difficulties of making a decision that could cause the deaths of other people.
"The only way you can take a decision like that is to try to do the right thing according to your conscience," Blair said.
Reg Keys, father of a British soldier killed in Iraq, said that it is the families of war casualties who are judging the prime minister. Keys told the BBC that Blair is "using God as a get-out for total strategic failure"
Stephen Pound, a Labor member of Parliament, called Blair's remarks honest, pointing out that the prime minister does not plan to stand for office again.
"If he was trying to go that awful American route of guns, gods and gays and try to link politics to religion, then he wouldn't be doing it this way," Pound said.
