Federal prosecutors say that Jimenez-Mejia was deported from Texas to Mexico in 1996. He had his fingertips replaced before he returned illegally to the United States.

The government seized five houses that Jimenez-Mejia owned or used for trafficking in Yakima. His wife and sister have also been sentenced to prison on related charges.
