WACO, Texas, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A Texas man accused of soliciting a prostitute for his son and being in possession of stolen merchandise has struck a plea deal with prosecutors.
James Monroe Ballard Jr. admitted to the second-degree felony charge by trying to get what he called his "highly frustrated" teenage son sex with a prostitute.
The Waco Tribune-Herald reports the 58-year-old man also owns a lawn service and the charges related to stealing lawn equipment were dropped.
He was sentenced to 10 years probation Tuesday.
The prostitution charge is from a May 20 incident when Ballard offered $20 to an undercover Waco police officer to have sex with his son.
He said he found his son looking at pornographic magazines and on the Internet and decided getting a prostitute was the best thing for him.
