Police nab child heroin dealers

GLASGOW, Scotland, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A survey of police districts found that at least 70 Scottish schoolchildren were arrested for drug-dealing last year.

Scotland on Sunday said the statistics include 10 children aged 15 or under who were caught dealing heroin in Fife, Scotland.

An 11-year-old girl from Glasgow was hospitalized last month after taking heroin that allegedly belonged to her mother.

The government is reviewing the rules under which children can be taken away from their families, after warnings that social workers leave too many youngsters living with drug-using parents, the newspaper said.

Government figures show that up to 35,000 children under 16 in Britain are using heroin.
