Nurses want smoke-free home visits

LONDON, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A British nurses group wants to keep smokers from lighting up when nurses or other health workers visit them in their own homes.

The Royal College of Nursing argues that nurses should not be forced to inhale smoke just because "their workplace" is in other people's homes, the London Observer reported.

The group says patients should be instructed in writing that neither they nor members of their family can smoke during -- or for one hour before -- a home visit by a medical professional. Those who do not comply would have to travel to a clinic for their treatment, the newspaper said.
